A
response to the feature article in the Marin IJ dated 3/27/2009
The
Nutrition Site Program through Marin Meals on Wheels at the
Margaret Todd Senior Center of Novato, San Rafael Community
Center on B Street, and the Pickleweed Community Center of
San Rafael will not be cutting or eliminating any meal services.
Funding for the Nutritional Site Program is established by
the Older Americans Act, a Federal Program, and thus any services
funded through the Older Americans Act here in Marin County
will remain intact.
If,
for some reason, a partner site is forced to close its doors,
we will reallocate the meals to a new site within the same
community. Marin Meals on Wheels wants to assure everyone
that we will continue operations as scheduled, serving the
Senior Community of Marin County.

Our
Mission - Feeding those in greatest need.
Marin
Meals on Wheels is dedicated to bringing healthy and nutritious
meals to Senior Adults in our area, whether it be due to age,
illness, or other frailties, whom could not otherwise prepare
meals, whereby a lack of a healthy diet would lead to poor
health and other hunger related issues, thus acting as a preventative
service for the Senior Population in and around our area.
In addition to Home Delivered Meal Service, Marin Meals on
Wheels also makes food readily available for adults that are
not part of the home delivered meal program, by coordinating
several dining facilities in and around Central Marin County,
for the benefit of helping the non-homebound Senior Adults
of the area find a hot nutritious meal, to help maintain body
health and support physical strength.

Delivering
Meals - Keeping Our Seniors Independent
Since
July, 2008, Marin Meals on Wheels has delivered over 63,000
meals. The Home Delivered Meals Program brings food to Seniors
that are isolated, homebound, frail, elderly, ill, or a combination
of.
MMOW
is
a partially funded program that is dedicated to bringing nutritious
meals to Seniors living in Marin County. MMOW is the only
contract agency for Meals on Wheels that delivers here in
Marin County.
If
you are interested in receiving Home Delivered Meals Services
or know somebody that could benefit from our program, there
is no need to wait any longer. Professional referrals are
not needed, anyone over age 60 can apply by contacting our
main office.
Applicants
must be at least 60 years of age and must be frail or homebound
to qualify (as determined by MMOW). There is no means test,
so qualifying is not based simply on a financial needs basis.

determine if this program is right for you, please call our
main office at (415) 507-4300, and talk to one of our staff
members.
